Wow. Well, it has been a busy morning.
jwatriss loaned me his bike, so I rode down to the Charles this morning and found my gang to finish the registration process. Then we had some time to go shopping, and shop I did. I think I bought the brightest bright pink spandex ever made. So I now have my uniform together for the PF Chang Marathon. It's pretty damn shocking, which is really my goal in life.
Then we raced--we had a pretty solid race. Not the fastest of boats or anything, but we all pulled hard and had a good time, so it was a successful race. After that, I wandered around for a while and ran into lots of familiar faces. Talking to people here makes me realize how serious I was when I went to school here. Don't get me wrong--there were plenty of good times to be had, but geez. Maybe it's just that people here are more serious in general. I've definitely partied much more in grad school than I did as an undergrad. I think I said just recently that grad school=prolonged adolescence. Something like that. Anyway, when I have to tell people what I've been up to, it kind of amazes me--studying ants, of all things! In Arizona, of all places! (I think a lot of New Englanders cannot readily conceive of living anywhere outside of New England. Seriously.) Training for a marathon! Clearly I am insane. But at least I'm having fun.
It has been a dark, overcast day, with occasional sprinkles. Good skulking weather. I think I shall skulk down to my favoritest of all favorite coffeeshops now to perhaps get some work done. Skulk, skulk, skulk.
