My Arizona Lairs [status]

rebeccmeisterI am very grateful that the stars have aligned and my PhD advisor is able to host me while I'm in Arizona. This gives me access to two different Writing Lairs:
Tempe Lair:
Elgin Lair:
These are some very nice lairs.
I spent much of yesterday just getting caught up on email. This morning went to finally getting some exercise (bike ride on Princess TinyBike), then driving to the house near Elgin, in southern Arizona.
I confirmed that the Western Canal still terminates for human transport at the Interstate-10 Canyon:
By the time I finished my ride at around 7:30, I was overheated. Even after jumping in the pool, it has taken me a while to recover from the heat exposure.
This photo gives you a sense of the relentlessness of the Arizona summer sun:
Now it's time to tackle a manuscript review. My goal is to get into a routine here: get up early, exercise, breakfast and coffee, then read and think and write, then sit on the porch in the evenings drinking whiskey or wine. I do also have art supplies and multiple cameras to tinker with.
Based on the Pima County Flood Control Map, it looks like my leafcutter sites haven't gotten big rains yet, even though other nearby regions have. So I'm also in sit-and-wait mode here.
I finally managed to post approximately a bazillion other photos to Flickr; clicking any of the photos above should take you to my photostream if you'd like to gaze upon the random things I photographed while driving, or upon amazingly delicious Japanese food from Domo in Denver.
