Whoosh, and away it goes.

It rained a lot last night, and the creosote bush outside my window made my room smell like the sweet fragrance of desert rain.

I have been working furiously on outlining my dissertation proposal, and have just fired off a copy of it to my advisor and another committee member who I will be visiting in Austin next week. Hopefully the visit will go well, and by going well, I mean hopefully we will learn a thing or two and I will come away feeling like I'm making something that at least remotely resembles progress. If not, more drastic steps will be in order, meaning that I will be getting higher powers involved, especially Zeus, because who doesn't love a good thunderbolt or two? I have to move forward on something, or else leave.

Now I'm tired, and I've been up since 5 writing, and haven't had breakfast yet.

So it goes.

I love the smell of wet creosote. That and wet palo verde are the smells of my youth in the monsoon season.

You can do it. I hope the meeting next week goes fabulously.
