Okay, maybe just over my house (west of Acronym State University). Ahh, monsoons. Gotta love them. This is the first time it has rained in our neighborhood in any significant amount in a while. I lurv the rain.
I've seen more rain here in Tucson this summer than I have since I moved here 5 years ago! I even got rained on when I went out for my walk last night!
We had a lot of rain in the winter of 04-05. It was beautiful. They had to shut down our artificial lake for a month and a half to let all of the water rush through. This year, we keep on having hints of rain, but then the clouds just lift up their skirts and carry on elsewhere.
This area doesn't have much of an aquifer to speak of. Tucson, on the other hand, is sinking because it has drained its aquifers. The summer monsoons, however, aren't very good for recharging aquifers because they are too patchy. The winter rains are better for that.
I think we've had enough rain by now that it actually doesn't smell like pee! And the water on the roads didn't turn all black and foamy! I'd almost forgotten about that. :) Hee!
