Midweek Status [work, rowing]
Not a ton to report. I gave my students their first midterm yesterday, so I have a bunch of grading to finish. My research students are all diligently working on data analysis and writing. Two of three summer students are working on a research poster for a college-wide presentation, due Friday. If you were to ask me what I REALLY want to be doing, it's working on a follow-up experiment to the experiment we did over the summer, where I'm giving colonies all a choice between a control diet and a high-fiber diet. The trouble with the choice experiment is that some of the colonies mix the two food sources together, so there's extra steps that are akin to sorting out grains of sand of different colors. Thankfully the particles are relatively large compared to some sand grains.
October is a busy month for rowing regattas. We have a local race here on Sunday, then a race in Connecticut the following Saturday, then a merciful one-week gap, then the Head of the Charles (!!!!), then the Head of the Fish, then it's somehow November. It will be exciting, but also a whirlwind, and I have a lot of transportation and lodging logistics to sort out for the CT race and the Charles. One of these days I'll learn how to confidently drive Princess TinyHouse, and then, lookout, world!
On that note, time to stop procrastinating and get back to grading, whee.
