I can't claim I've gotten a ton of paying work done today, but on the other claw, I am SO GLAD to have a chance to tackle the lingering list of random tasks right now.
For instance. On that trip to Hawaii in December, I wound up giving away the Keen sandals I've been using to wade around in the Hudson River apparently since 2021: a hiker lost her hiking boots trying to wade across a stream that we'd deemed too dangerous and swiftly-flowing to attempt, and was then faced with a 2-mile barefoot hike to get back to the trailhead. While we did observe multiple people intentionally hiking barefoot, she appeared to be struggling when we went past. An unusual option for disposing of old sandals, for sure!
That motivated me to finally take action on getting my Chacos re-soled. I'm so glad that they offer this service. It isn't cheap but it will at least keep some footwear material out of a landfill.
