1. George has developed a new behavior: when I sit down on the toilet, he runs up and jumps on my lap, for some purring and scritches!
2. Recently when I noticed all of the soccer balls gathered together in the same room, I'd wondered whether that was something I'd done while cleaning up to vacuum. This time, however, I'm more confident that there's a kitty who has been rounding them up and putting them in her favorite spots, because I definitely haven't been placing them up on this bed:

I'm so glad that she is also a soccercat, in her own way.
3. The first of the backyard strawberries have finally ripened!

Today in the garden I got as far as reconfiguring the hose, sifting out compost from the compost bin, and pulling the most egregious of the weeds. Then it got warm enough that I started to think that maybe a better gardening plan would be to finish garden projects early tomorrow morning.
4. We had a regatta yesterday! It was a lot of fun, although also a complete whirlwind because they pack all of the sculling events into Saturday morning, then spend the rest of the weekend working their way through sweep dual races. So I had three races with two back-to-back hotseats. We at least made it to the starting line on time, for whatever version of 'on time' mattered, because every time they just had us spin and start right away because they were behind schedule.
We came in third place for both the Women's Masters 2x and Mixed Masters 2x, but sadly for us, they were only awarding medals for first and second place. I mean, that would have just been more necklaces for the medals recycling box in the long run anyway, but still. In the Mixed race we were only 0.2 seconds behind second place. *shakes fist at the sky* Motivation to keep training.
Thankfully the consolation prizes were plentiful. At the end of the Masters 2x race we *almost* got our consolation beverage right away at the finish line:

We just couldn't get the boat quite close enough to the jetty because our oars were bumping into the wall.
There's a pub right at the finish, so once the boat was put away we trooped over for some beer and some gelato, where I got an actual tiny consolation prize:

Apparently they normally hand these out as a little gift for small children.
A great time with a great group of teammates.

And now it's time to go cook dinner.
