Status [conference, gardening, food, bicycling, books]
There are too many things happening right now, so rather than have a mental backlog of blog posts, I should just sum up:
1. Photos from the conference in San Diego are in my Flickr photostream, including the maritime museum, coffeeshop time, random conference things, fireworks, boats, Balboa Park, and the sidewalk to the airport: https://flic.kr/p/2nxsmWy
2. Raspberry season started while I was out of town. I came back and picked an entire yogurt tub's worth, then used them to bake a pair of raspberry buttermilk cakes. YUM!

Almost all of the berries went into the cakes. Almost, but not quite, all.

3. We've just returned from a 600k based out of Rochester, NY. As with all brevets, there were lots of adventures. My butt is sore but overall I'm happy with how this one went, especially given that I haven't exactly been training all that much for brevets. Also, S came along and did a 400k and it was great to have his company.
4. I finally read Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher on the train trip to and from Rochester. Believe it or not, this is the first book I've read by Ursula. The book made me cackle multiple times. As usual, it was so nice to read some fiction for a change. I guess the good news is that now that I know I really enjoyed PG, I can add other books by Ursula to my "to-read" list.
