I am looking forward to the end of the semester, and at least one month of not having teaching responsibilities (a solid month of diving in and doing experiments--whee!). This was another one of those semesters when I never felt like I could settle into a sustainable routine, so I've had to keep canceling things and rearranging my schedule. Repeatedly staying up late to finish grading has been particularly disruptive. Ridiculous fuss, to be sure. It's difficult to make intellectual progress when one is constantly having to switch between subjects.

On a related note, I think I'm going to have to go through another phase of saying "no" to some things and taking more time for the things that I need to do, like call my family now and again.

Always such a difficult balance.

So, the New York Times has started running articles about bicycle fashion in its fashion section. But most of the articles focus on cycling fashion for men, not women.

Frankly, I'd like to see more of this fashion spill over to clothing for women. Specifically, how about a nice, fashionable, professional-looking skirt that can be worn while cycling *and* that is presentable enough to be worn to interviews or for teaching? I'm really not as concerned about pants, because let's face it, they're not all that practical in the desert.
