She rides!
I rode my bicycle yesterday for the first time in 25 days. I took it to the grocery store, a 7-mile round-trip with the trailer (which is going to be named Kirby). I was a bit tired by the time I arrived at the store, but perked up enough to make it home again. I wore a tanktop and sunburned my back. Today I am tired. This is going to be a long recovery.
I also finally reassembled Spud (my road bike) and am immensely enjoying the resultant liberated floor space.
Last night, M and I finally made it over to the Bike Saviours, the Tempe bike co-op. Things looked pretty well-organized and the folks who were there were friendly. It looks like a great place to learn bike-fixing skills as well, so hopefully I'll have the chance to return now and then to tinker with my bike.
Boy Who I See Randomly Everywhere, Always With A Different Girl was there, so we re-introduced ourselves and now I might actually remember his real name. I didn't tell him this, but I had come up with nobler names for him in my mind. He said that with respect to the biking scene around Tempe, he always sees the same people at the different groups and events. There's a young demographic here (17-25) that's enthusiastic about bikes and biking, which is really neat. These small groups give me a little bit of hope for this place.
And now, another week of school.
