Rethink week

It's our Spring "break" this week, which means time for me to work on my two-year review packet. And other thrilling writing projects.

To prepare, last week I read through all of my course evaluations from the last 1.5 years.

I did not have the correct amount of alcohol at hand for that activity. Foolish.

This also happened at the end of a particularly rough week, where I was still sick AND teaching topics that I've struggled with (how to motivate the lecture?), when handing back exams where students clearly needed to be challenged more (setting aside the pool of students who definitely felt they were adequately challenged).

One of the parts I struggle with quite a lot is how to structure assessment questions effectively.

I just need to remind myself: this is a developmental process, just as much as learning is a developmental process.

You've seen the data saying that women get worse course evals than men, generally speaking? Take with big grains of salt; I'm quite sure you're fabulous!
