Yesterday evening and today I spent some time packing up the books into boxes. When packing, I also seem to always think back to moving for the first time, moving away from Seattle to go to college in Boston. I have only a vague idea of what I took with me, but I do remember that I shipped myself a set of 6 boxes. At least three of them were apple boxes, which are really nice and sturdy because they have lids that fit down over the box.

When I moved back to Seattle at the end of college, I shipped 21 boxes to myself via Amtrak freight. I still have at least 3 of those original apple boxes. When not in use for transporting stuff, they've been useful for other things - dirty clothes basket, table. By now they're almost 20 years old.

I'm still feeling overly tired for some unknown reason. There was a bit more rain in Tucson last night, but once again it didn't land in quite the right spot. When I got up to check the rain gauges at 3 am, the sky in Tempe was oddly colored - a dust storm. Thankfully, at least a little bit of rain fell, too, so the air wasn't suffocating when I rode my bike to the farmer's market.

I'm going to miss that farmer's market.

I am thinking about this too-- how much we give away or get rid of and yet still accumulate. I wonder how much I can downsize before we move houses next year. My parents moved across the U.S. and still had 100 boxes.
